Disney Princess Inspired Rings
We love strong women… and Disney princesses definitely walk the walk. The challenge: create a Disney princess inspired ring that emulates the character of the princess and her story.
Forge’s Founders decided it would be a fun challenge for our design team to create customized pieces within a theme. Victoria (one of our fabulous designers) really gets what is inspiring about all things Disney. For her challenge, Victoria decided to give each of our favorite Disney Dames a Legitimately crave-worthy, story inspired ring! She delivered. Victoria combined what we all love about these strong Disney women with her own taste and expertise and created these gems (pun totally intended):
Ariel:
Ariel won us over with her insatiable curiosity and her passionate and adventurous nature. Just like her story, Ariel’s ring boasts soft and flowing ocean-like lines, but it contains a unique center; symbolic of Ariel’s surprising inner strength and resolve. And we mustn’t forget the iconic sea shells!
Aurora:
Aurora is kind, elegant and sophisticated. Aurora (and her movie) was styled by Eyvind Earle, who combined Gothic French, Italian and Pre-Renaissance influences to give her the elegance and beauty that is iconically hers. Her story is the only in the Disney Canon with such intense vertical lines attributed to Earle’s flair. She is classic in every sense, and so is her ring.
The blue central stone is a head nod to her dress (no pink! no blue!) and her lovely eyes — which were blue in her movie, but have been purple in subsequent merchandise. The rose winding up the band is symbolic of her other name: Briar Rose. The pink, green and blue stones are a tender representation of her three fairy guardians.
Anna and Elsa:
We love that these Arendelle princesses demonstrate the power of a platonic bond. We also love how their rings compliment each other while being completely different; just like our favorite Disney sisters! Anna’s ring has Scandinavian flair, representing Anna’s devotion to her people and her sense of belonging. Elsa’s ring seems both strong and delicate; the snowflake shape representing Elsa’s power, and also her individuality.
Belle:
Our favorite bibliophilic Princess is celebrated for her strong, independent (and unconventional) nature. Her fierce loyalty (to her father, and then to her beloved Beast) and her good judgement makes her an excellent role model. Her ring boasts bold colors and is an homage to the rose that symbolizes the deep connection she has with the Beast’s true self; something Belle was able to recognize and love.
Cinderella:
Our favorite little Cinder Girl is one of the most classic and iconic of Disney’s princesses! We enjoy her well-deserved “glow-up”, but we love her for her determination, her compassion, and her resourcefulness (can I get a couple mice to help me with my housework?). Don’t you love the subtle pumpkin carriage at the base of the stone’s setting?
Jasmine:
This feisty princess just got herself a reboot, showcasing more of her spunk, intelligence and girl-power! Her ring looks like it was forged in the fires of Agrabah, and is as daring as the princess it was created for! We love the subtle golden lamps on the band.
Merida:
This free-spirited Chief’s Daughter from “the Other Studio” charmed us with her willful spirit and unruly red hair. She is stubborn, brave, and steps into her leadership and owns it. We think Clan DunBroch is in great hands! We love the Celtic tones of Merida’s ring, especially the endless knots; symbolizing strength and the ability to move forward through adverse conditions. Like, say, turning into a bear.
Moana:
Moana stands out from the crowd, and so does her ring. This fearless, capable and sea-loving adventurer has a ring design as dynamic as she is. We love the hibiscus flowers on the band—a symbol of how Moana is grounded in the roots of her heritage—and the flow of the wave on the other band, a symbol of her wild and adventuring spirit.
Mulan:
Mulan’s courage and selflessness proved to be a powerful combination. Her ring is a compelling symbol of all that Mulan is: soft and strong; capable and vulnerable. We love the warrior sword hidden in the soft lines of the band; like Mulan’s warrior heart.
Pocahontas:
Pocahontas is a noble, free-spirited and kind young woman who shows wisdom beyond her years. She is a fierce protector of her people and the natural earth. We love her ring’s center blue stone—a nod to Pocahontas’ beloved mother’s necklace—and the organic movement of the leaves and vines; proving Pocahontas’ belief that ‘we are all connected to each other’.
Rapunzel:
Rapunzel is a spirited, clever and guileless girl who always sees the best in everyone. We love the pure diamond stone in the center of her ring, symbolizing her pure and generous heart. The purple stones are a reflection of her iconic purple dress. We love the subtle sun symbols from her childhood that helped guide Rapunzel home. The band seems to be winding, twisting and growing toward the center stone, like the magic in Rapunzel’s fantastic hair.
Snow White:
Ah, the innocent, trusting and sweet-voiced Snow White. She was the very first Disney Princess, her story the very first full length animated feature, and one of the most recognized fairy tales. The classic cut and bold stone choices of Snow White’s ring are a delightful head nod to her regality.
Tiana:
Tiana is sassy, passionate and a very hard worker. We love that her ring is shaped after the lotus flower of a lily pad —a cheeky nod to her time spent as a frog in her tale—and the deep green color is reminiscent of both the lush green of New Orleans and the vibrancy of the roaring 20’s.
Victoria had a lot of fun with this project; taking a dive into the personalities and stories of each individual Princess. She did them justice with with her customized rings, unique to each. That’s what we love about what we do! We love creating fine jewelry pieces that compliment the unique individual—and their story—who wears it.
